Looking for the best KJV Study Bible?
The following is a list of my top three favorite King James version study Bibles. I own and have used all three of these study Bibles at length. Therefore, I am very familiar with all three of these King James version study Bibles. It is my own opinion that the best KJV study bible ultimately comes down to the readers preference. Each King James version study Bible that I have read has been good in their own right. Each one offers different formats, charts, study notes, illustrations, etc… It all comes down to the readers needs.
Do you like colorful maps and pictures in your study bible or is the content of the study notes more valuable to you? Each study Bible has different traits. Also, I would like to point out that everyone has their own style of learning. Some people are visual learners who get the most out of pictures and illustrations, while others gain more from reading charts or doctrinal essays. Everyone has their own methods of learning that suit them the best. People are also at different places in their walk with Christ. The study bible that may be best suited for the new Christian may not challenge a seasoned believer in Christ in the same way.
It is for all these reasons that I wanted to provide this list of what I believe to be the best KJV study Bibles. I will discuss the pro’s and con’s of each one of these study Bibles at length to better help you make the decision that is best for you. This list of the best KJV study Bibles has been presented to you in no particular order.
Best KJV Study Bible List
#1 Nelson KJV Study Bible Second Edition
No products found.
There are many outstanding attributes about Nelson King James Version study Bible that make it an easy choice for ranking in my top three study Bibles. I have found this study Bible to be one of the most accurate when it comes to study notes and doctrinal essays. This Bible also provides an inexhaustible amount of cross references. In fact, it ranks near the top for the most Bible verse cross references that I have encountered in a study Bible. I also appreciated the what I call “Quick Glance” definitions that are provided to the reader on the same page as the material that is being studied. The quick glance definitions are difficult to understand King James Version words explained or easier translated for a better learning experience. They are listed in the center column of the page right next to the verse cross references. There are also an abundance of extra features provided in this KJV study Bible such as an index of Paul’s letters, Bible prophecies, and book introductions. The size of this study Bible is smaller than most study Bibles that I have used which makes it good for mobility, unlike many others that I own. I only wish this King James Version Study Bible was equipped with more Old Testament notes. The old testament seems to be lacking in detailed study notes like the new testament. Overall, I love this KJV study Bible and use it on a daily basis. In fact, I have the first edition of this Bible and two copies of the second edition because I use it so frequently.

#2 Holman KJV Study Bible
No products found.
Color, color, and more color. The Holman King James Version study Bible is a visual learners dream. This KJV study Bible is packed with colorful maps, pictures, illustrations, and artist renditions. I find that while reading this study Bible, the colorful maps keep grabbing my attention. The maps are usually located parallel with the scriptures that are conveying a certain geological locale. This really made it easier to get a picture in my mind of where the respective Bible stories were taking place and it gave me a new perspective. I am very much a visual learner and that makes this King James version study Bible one of my favorites. This study Bible is not only full of color but it is full of accurate and detailed study notes. The Holman KJV study Bible has a plethora of notes to include the old testament. This study Bible is not lacking in cross references either. The cross references are not only found in the center column of each page but also in the study notes themselves. This KJV study Bible does not have the quick glance definitions in the center column but does have a King James glossary located in the back that translates certain KJV words into easier to understand meanings. My only compliant about this study Bible is that the study notes text itself is written in a lighter shade of ink that may make for harder reading for certain individuals. This King James version study Bible has it all and that makes it very easy to place it in my top three KJV study Bibles.

#3 Tyndale Life Application KJV Study Bible
No products found.
Last but not least, the Tyndale King James Version Life Application study Bible makes you feel as though you have invited a pastor into your home for a question and answer session. This KJV study Bible specializes in well, life application. This is the perfect KJV study Bible for the new or struggling Christian. It focuses less on the theological and historical settings of the Bible, and more on applying the scriptures to your every day walk with Christ. The study notes will not only inform the reader but challenge him/her to live out the scriptures. This KJV study Bible truly strives to make you more like Christ and it stresses the importance of pointing others to eternity as well. The Life Application study notes are among my favorite of any Bible no matter what the version of the text may be. I enjoy the Life Application notes and format so much that I own several Life Application Bible translations not to mention the Life Application New Testament Commentary book as well. This KJV study Bible also provides outstanding personality profiles in which they detail the lives of the most influential people in the Bible weather they be good or bad. The personality profiles emphasize both the strengths and weaknesses of the people so that we can learn from their mistakes and their victories.
