KJV Large Print Personal Size Reference Bible Review

Size & Weight

This personal size bible is outstanding for mobility purposes and for just reading while lounging around the house. It really isn’t any larger than your typical paperback book. It is also very light weight. I find that I often grab this bible over others that are on my shelf just because of its smaller size and weight. As a result this is the bible that I always take to church with me.

Durability

I have had this bible for a couple of years now and it has held up very well. I really have no complaints other than a small concern for the ribbon/book mark that it comes with. The ribbon seems to be very flimsy and cheaply made but it has held up thus far. The binding of this bible appears to be sturdy and the genuine leather provides a thick layer of protection. I also was very impressed with the flexibility of the bible. It lays flat on the table when open whereas many other bibles will only stay open if you have it near the mid point so that it is counter-weighted on both sides. Even if I have it open to the book of Genesis it does a good job lying flat.

Content

This bible presents God’s word and nothing more. This is not a study bible therefore; there are no notes or opinion offered by the publisher. This is a reference bible which means the publisher gives several cross references to verses throughout the bible to assist you with further studies. While there are many cross references found throughout, I felt the bible could have provided more. There is a small yet satisfying concordance as well as a bible reading plan found at the end of the scriptures. There are also eight colored maps at the back of the bible. This particular bible also comes in indexed. Black index represents old testament books and red represents new testament books. I was afraid these tabs may fall off because they are glued/attached to the paper and not written on the pages themselves but I have not seen any indications that they will fail. These tabs make accessibility to the scriptures very fast and efficient.

Final Thoughts

I have many bibles and this is one of my favorites. I would highly recommend this bible to anyone. When I’m in my home office I typically use study bibles because I like to dive more in depth into God’s word so I seek out all the information that I can get my hands on. But if I leave my office, this is the bible I take with me. Whether I’m lying on the couch, reading, or traveling this is my go-to bible.
