Inspire Bible Large Print NLT Review – The Inspire Bible Large Print NLT: The Bible for Creative Journaling. A much-anticipated extension to the Inspire Bible line, this beautiful resource is for people wanting to connect to Scripture through art but who have a hard time reading the smaller text in other wide-margin Bibles, or who prefer a larger canvas for coloring and adding original art.

Inspire Bible Large Print NLT Review

Size & Weight

The large print Inspire bible measures about 8 x10 inches. It is about 2 inches thick and has a good bit of weight to it.  The cover is a beautiful teal blue and the page edges have a really pretty floral design. The cover is made from imitation leather. I do think the cover is pretty basic compared to some of the beautiful drawings inside, but it’s still nice.

This is the large print version and it is much, much easier to read than the regular size.  The drawings are much larger as well since the bible is bigger which makes them much easier to color.  I looked at the regular sized version at the bookstore and I am so glad I got the large print because there is so much more room to write and color.

Content & Illustrations

This bible is really beautiful. Inside, there are tons of things to color and they are all beautifully done. The pictures are big and easy to color for the most part. There are some tight spots like where the pages meet. This bible is beautiful even if you did not color it at all. The font is a good size, pleasing to the eye, and easy to read. I love how there is plenty of room to color and to write and the font is still easy to read. They did not try to jam too much on the page.

This is just a basic bible.  It doesn’t have study notes or extra text, just the bible itself. The words of Jesus are not in red in this bible.  There are over 400 designed verses to color, and it really helps with memorization and learning God’s word as you color. There are also several lined margins for creative journaling.

I really wanted to use gel pens with this bible, but the ones that I had did bleed through.  (I included a photo with a couple dots showing how much the pens show on the opposite side of the paper.) The paper is very thin so most markers or pens will bleed through to the other side.  I settled on using colored pencils.  I got some cheap pencils and really hated the way they colored so I would recommend getting a good set of pencils if that’s what you decide to use.  Everything I colored is done with the Prismacolor Premier soft core colored pencils.

Final Thoughts

This is a really beautiful and easy to read NLT bible.  I am really glad I got the large version since there is plenty of room to color and write. It is on the big side so it’s not as easy to carry around as a personal size, but for journaling I prefer it to be larger. It is absolutely beautiful and it will take me a long time to color all the pages. It would make a great gift as well.
