Randy Clark and Susan Thompson tell an amazing true story about a man named SoPhal Ung. SoPhal Ung was born in Cambodia and raised in a Buddhist family. According to SoPhal, Cambodia’s religion is 99% Buddhist. SoPhal takes us on a hair-raising journey through his life as he converts to Christianity, begins to spread the gospel among his Buddhist countrymen, and plant churches in an anti-christian, war ravaged land.

This 204 page book was a page turner! I read it in its entirety within 24 hours. Only God could have protected SoPhal and his family through all the trials and tribulations that he told about. This book is very thought provoking. SoPhal’s story will leave you thinking about everyday things that we take for granted. Reading this book really made me feel kinda spoiled in a way, but I needed to see that about myself. We all do. I could not help but see many similarities between SoPhal and the Apostle Paul. How he traveled around planting churches and how he spent his time encouraging others and telling them about the gospel while imprisoned. Like Paul, he even lead some prison guards to Christ.  SoPhal’s faith and obedience to God, even in the wake of torture and certain death, was very inspiring. His determination and dedication will leave every reader searching for more ways to serve the Lord and His kingdom. I found that this story pulled at the old heart strings quite a few times as well.

I highly recommend this book! It will strengthen your daily walk with Jesus and make you appreciate the little everyday provisions that the Lord has blessed you with and those things in life that you may be taking for granted.
